There are various regulations and divisions that are not available to the employees that have been employed on a farm and the people, whose employment is related, in a direct manner, to the production, of milk, eggs, fruits, livestock as defined by the Livestock Industry Diversification Act etc., at the primary level (Martinelli Lau, 2014). Those employees who do not work under the province or internationally, the employees under federal jurisdiction and the workers or contractors that are self-employed are also excluded from this Act. Purpose and Overview of the Act Purpose: The purpose of this Act is to establish the minimum standards for the employers and the employees working under the government of Alberta. These minimum standards pertain to the areas that include the number of hours of work, the leaves to be given for vacations, provision of wages and overtime. The main aim of these laws is to provide for the fairness and equality at the sites of the work. Also, greater benefits for employers and employees are given under this Act as the minimum standards have been set and therefore no person can try to opt out from the core standards in any manner whether direct or indirect(workershelp, 2017). Key Sections: The key sections of this Act include Section 2 which states about the application of this Act. Section 4 states about the minimum standards which have been set under this Act. Who is responsible: Both the Alberta employees and the employers have the liability to ensure that the provisions of this Act are being upheld and that these are being applied in a fair and an equitable manner. Employment Related Situations First situation: Employee A who is made to work for 14 consecutive hours by his employee on the work days without any urgent work. Section to be applied- Section 16(1) would be applied to the present case (Macmillan, 2017). Application of the Section- This section of the Employment Standards Code seeks to state the fact that an employee under this Code could only work for 12 hours consecutively on a work day. Second Situation: Employer B is not given any leave, by his employer, even after working for two consecutive weeks. Also his employer do not provide for any pay periods. Section to be applied- In this case, Section 19 of the Employment Standards Code is to be applied. Section 7 would also be applicable to the present situation. Application of the Section- This section states that every employer is to mandatorily give his employee, one day rest in the whole week. For two consecutive weeks of work, the employee is entitled to 2 consecutive days of rest. For three consecutive weeks, there would be a week of 3 consecutive days. Section 7 states that each and every employer must provide a pay period to the employee. This would help in the calculation of the overtime pay and also the wages that are due to an employee and it should not be more than one work month. Company is using only environmentally safe materials, so they are trying to be close with their suppliers and pay extra costs to minimize the environmental impact and at the same time create a value for the customer. LEGO is a toy making company, so they need to be very aware of the quality and what kind of message they are sending to their customers. Also, the company is very aware of human rights, that’s why, in 2012 LEGO issued a new Code of Conduct to set rules for the company and how it should threat the workers. Moreover, this Code of Conduct was released because LEGO was very concerned about their employees in China. According to the LEGO group progress report â€Å"The Pearl River delta where most of our Chinese suppliers are situated is currently struggling  with labor shortages.† In this case, LEGO created very favorable working conditions. Such values are vital for parent’s opinion about the company when they are choosing witch products they want to purchase. By creating these values LEGO feels the market demand for LEGO friends in China, that is why, the company will start to build toy factory in China, Jiaxing from 2014. This move will add value to outbound logistics and will shorten company’s lead times. From everything what LEGO is doing for China, we can see that it is really important for them to take an appropriate root in China. Therefore, company wants to show Chinese customers that they are the best in all possible ways, and if not then LEGO will do their best to become leaders. But there is always another side of company’s inside problems and of course LEGO also has few. Their cost strategy is not adapted to a Chinese customer. Most of the toys production in China is focused on low-cost strategy. It does not mean anything wrong, but I just want to underline that LEGO’s price strategy could cause some problems. Also as an international company LEGO is facing some outbound logistic issues. Company depends on the partnerships they have with many global partners. These partnerships require LEGO to have mutual benefit for their co-operations. This is the reason why company will start to build their own factory, but until that time, they will be dependable on these partnerships in China. Moreover, LEGO’s marketing strategy is not fully developed for Chinese market. Company should create more culturally customized products, and do not put everything on â€Å"skillful toys†. They should concentrate on intimate customer values and allocate their marketing according to the different countries.
